Shashank Achanthodi
Architect, Inclusive Design Specialist
MA, BArch
Shashank believes that good design begins with understanding people, place and the everyday experiences that shape how communities move through and use their cities. He is passionate about creating spaces that are simple, thoughtful and responsive, with design decisions rooted in empathy, accessibility and a deeper understanding of human behavior.
Shashank brings experience across architecture, urban design, streets, mobility and public realm projects, with a focus on how design can improve daily life at both the building and city scale. His work is informed by a strong interest in architectural psychology, inclusive design and the belief that design should consider both what is seen and what is often overlooked. Prior to joining BDP, he held senior urban design roles where he contributed to large-scale city-building initiatives in India, including the Chennai Mega Streets Project. Led by Greater Chennai Corporation, the project aims to redevelop 110 km of streets across the city, with his work focused on the redesign of 15 km of streets in Nungambakkam.
