Shashank Achanthodi

Inclusive Design Specialist
MA Urban Design, BArch

Shashank believes good design begins with understanding people, places and the everyday experiences that shape how communities move through and use their cities. He is passionate about creating simple, thoughtful and responsive spaces, with design decisions rooted in empathy, accessibility and a deeper understanding of human behaviour.

With experience across architecture, urban design, street design, urban mobility and public realm projects, Shashank brings a broad perspective on how design can support vibrant, inclusive cities. His work is informed by design psychology, inclusive design and the belief that successful places respond not only to what is visible, but also to the social, cultural and behavioural factors that shape how people experience them.

Prior to joining BDP, Shashank held senior urban design roles, working on projects of varying scales across cities in India. His experience includes complete streets and heritage redevelopment projects in Assam; work with Habitat for Humanity in Gujarat, Rajasthan and Karnataka; and the development of 15-minute, universally accessible education campuses. He also served as a Fellow with the Government of NCT of Delhi, where he supported research, design and monitoring for Delhi’s street design and public infrastructure projects.
