Human Space hosted a discussion with an interdisciplinary panel of experts a month ago that discussed how we can apply the fundamentals of inclusive design by engaging with the public to co-create better spaces for all people, exploring topics such as:
-
- How engagement with the community leads to the design of spaces that encourages participation, promote equity, and uphold wellbeing in the built environment.
- How inclusive design considers human identities, including disability, race, culture, gender identity and expression, sexual orientation, as well as family and socioeconomic status, to enhance opportunities for creating more resilient communities.
The invited panel was comprised of subject-matter experts that included Björn Bleumink (Architect Director, BDP), Heela Omarkhail (VP, Social Impact, The Daniels Corporation), Phil Bixby (Architect – My Future York) and Shachi Pandey (Founding Principal – MUD Workshop) and was moderated by Lorene Casiez (Accessibility and Wellness Lead – Human Space).
