The Project

The Great Ormond Street Hospital (GOSH) is an international centre of excellence for pediatric healthcare. The phased redevelopment of GOSH in Bloomsbury, London includes an expansion site that will serve as a dedicated Cancer Care Centre (CCC). The existing building on the site will be redeveloped to meet the growing needs of the hospital, the children and families that the CCC serves and the community at-large.

The phased development will increase interconnectivity within the existing healthcare facilities and access into GOSH at the street level. As a healthcare facility, the accessibility of the site and the building is being designed to reflect a full range of persons with disabilities. The project prioritizes providing an equitable level of access for all members of society, to allow for a welcoming and inclusive experience.

Human Space is providing consulting on BDP’s holistic approach that encompasses design strategies for persons with a range of physical disabilities, vision loss and blindness, hearing loss and deafness, as well as design strategies for persons with cognitive or invisible disabilities.
