McMaster University Campus Master Plan

The Project

The McMaster University Campus Master Plan developed a new long-term vision for the 152.4 hectare campus. This includes a 10-year campus master plan that aligns with the university’s strategic priorities and is focused on developing a campus that provides living, learning, and community opportunities for its 30,000+ students.

Human Space facilitated a comprehensive community engagement process alongside faculty, students, staff and the broader community to capture the university’s inclusive design and social equity based goals.

The approach to the facilitation and community engagement has included on site pop-up activations and broader surveys to determine the needs, challenges and opportunities for the future campus to operate in a post-pandemic world.

Human Space also developed the inclusive design briefs for the Campus Master Plan to include themes of access, wellbeing, safety, equity and inclusion on the future campus.
